Combloux/Le
Jaillet-Ski Area
(Local Area) (62km of doorstep skiing)
Ski on perfectly groomed pistes amidst picturesque
tree lined trails, where lift queues are virtually
unheard of - add to this, spectacular panoramic
views of Mont-Blanc and the Aravis chain of
mountains - the result - A
Perfect Alpine Location !! (See
below for piste details) |
 |
|
 |
Combloux
is an excellent resort for Beginners, Intermediates
and Families, where all levels are catered for
admirably. The resort is located between 1100m
- 1853m - the pistes cover pastureland which
we have found to be an advantage : when the
snow levels are low the pistes here are often
skiable whereas some nearby higher altitude
resorts have been closed due to the insufficient
snow levels needed to cover the protruding rocks
!
Sample one of the many inexpensive mountain
restaurants - you will be pleasantly surprised.

Access
to the ski station is easy. Some of the appartments
are within easy walking distance of the lifts.
Others are just a short ride away. Either catch
the free ski bus from the tourist office car
park or a stop near your accommodation - the
bus will take you directly to the ski area.
Alternatively if you have your own transport
take a short drive to the car park at La Cry
(parking is free) where you will find all of
the facilities :-
Ticket Offices,Lifts,
Ski School, Ski Shops,Creche, Restaurants and
Nursery Slopes. |
 |
|
 |
Lessons
all start from the ESF (Ecole de Ski Français)
area at La Cry. These can either be prebooked
by Alpine Holidays or by yourself upon arrival.
For beginners
there is a nursery area where you can find your
ski legs and practice getting on the drag lift-
not always as simple as it looks when you're
first starting out! The instructors are all
experienced and will soon whisk you away up
the chairlift to your first gentle run down
the mountain. Group and private lessons are
available and there are a wide range of facilities
for young children and if your French is not
so good, many of the Instructors speak good
English. |
|
| You
could ski happily all week with the Local Lift
Pass. Runs vary from gentle greens and easy
blues to some wide reds, most of which are well
within the capability of the novice and intermediate
skier whilst still being interesting for the
more advanced. |
| |
 |
For
the snowboarders amongst you
there is a designated snowpark area reserved
for boarders only. There are also a number of
safe off piste areas often covered with powder
snow for you to explore at your leisure. |
|
 |
|
| The
Jaco runs will occupy most novices and first
time intermediates for a good holiday stay.
For the more adventurous wishing to try another
local resort -why not buy the occasional day
ticket or even consider purchasing the weekly
Evasion/Mont-Blanc pass.
This opens up a further 420km of pistes.
Access to the
Megeve lift is only a 5 minute drive by car,
(there is also a bus from Combloux). The
St.Gervais and Les Contamines ski areas
are 15- 20 minutes away by car. And for the
more Extreme Skiers/Boarders
of you why not try Chamonix which is approximately
35 minutes drive away. So you have it all within
Combloux or within easy reach of here - all
abilities catered for from Green to
Extreme ! |
