In and
around the local area |

Without
skis you can still enjoy the magic of the mountains.
There are a number of pedestrian trails around
the village and ski station, accessible on foot
(with good waterproof boots) or with snow shoes.
If you prefer to take the easy way up, the Beauregard
and Chable chairlifts allow pedestrians four
times a day. Non skiing members of your party
can meet up with the skiers for lunch and a
photo. |

After
the skiing day, the village of Combloux is a
bustling hive of activity. Shops are open until

later. A weekly list of activities is published
from walks and talks to films and discos. There
is floodlit night skiing at La Cry once each
week and several times each season the Ski Guides
perform a 'Torchlight Descent' - best watched
from the village square. |

Megeve,
where the rich and famous (including Sacha Distel
and Petula Clark) have their winter hideaways,
is only a few kilometres away. Steeped in history
it was originally developed as a winter sports
resort by Baroness de Rothchild in 1913. The
centre of the village, presided over by a 13th
century church, is pedestrianised and full of
ancient charm with interresting alleys, quaint
stone bridges and a multitude of shops. Why
not take a magistical sleigh ride through the
village and discover it's charm. There is a
plethora of restaurants, from MacDonalds to
those needing a mortgage for a meal ! The fine
French cuisine is abundant and affordable, look
out for the Petit Breton Creperie, the kids'll
love it. |

PARAGLIDING
AND HANG GLIDING
The flying over this beautiful
mountainous region is absolutely
stunning and over the years
many big distance flights
have been achieved in this
area, including a number of
paragliding records.
The weather in the high Alps
is wonderful and living in
a high pressure region we
experience four defined seasons
with an annual humidity average
of less than 50%. In winter
the days are crisp and in
the summer hot and sunny with
temperatures often reaching
into the 30's. During the
months of February to late
September we average 24 flying
days a month when pure thermic
flying conditions reign.
